Curacao has a beautiful underwater world that also can be discovered without diving. If diving is not your thing, you can go snorkeling. You can rent a snorkel set at our diving school and go out on your own, but you can also choose to join us on one of our trips. Every Tuesday and Thursday we provide a special snorkeling trip.

Caracas Bay trip on Tuesday

On Tuesday you can join our Caracas Bay trip. We gather at our diving school at 8:30 in the morning. Once everyone has his or her snorkeling gear, we can set off. During this tour we visit different places.

  • The first stop is the Jan Thiel viewpoint where you will learn more about the east of Curaçao and the history of the island. For example, the Spanish Water, Fort Beekenburg and the quarantine building are discussed.
  • The second stop is Tugboat Beach, one of our favorite snorkeling spots. Tugboat Beach is named after the small tugboat that sunk here years ago by accident. The wreck lies at a depth of about five meters deep and the water here is very clear, therefore you do not have to dive to see the tugboat. The wreck is now covered with colorful coral which clearly can be seen when you go snorkeling.
  • The third stop is Director Bay, another fantastic place to snorkel. You'll find colorful corals and snorkeling is wonderful here.

In between there is the possibility for a drink at Tugboat Beach and on the way back there is the possibility to enjoy a delicious batido (local smoothie). The Caracas Bay Trip costs USD 40 per person incl. snorkel gear. You will be back at our diving school around 2:30 PM.

Westpoint Trip on Thursday

The west of Curaçao is known for beautiful beaches and beautiful snorkeling sites. During this day trip you will enjoy snorkeling over colorful reefs and a delicious lunch overlooking the sea.

This weekly trip is ideal for snorkelers, couples, families and groups in which not everyone can or wants to dive. Every Thursday we ride our Scuba Bus (a renovated American school bus) to Westpoint, the most western part of Curaçao. We gather at Scuba Lodge Dive Center at 8:30 a.m. for a short briefing. Once all guests have gathered their snorkel gear we drive to Westpoint.

  • The first stop is a local fisherman’s beach which is known for the many turtles swimming there. Snorkelers and even just swimmers have almost one hundred percent guarantee of seeing turtles, since the turtles swim on the surface a lot. You may not touch, rush or disturb the turtles, but you may always admire them.
  • During the second stop we take a break and enjoy a delicious lunch overlooking the sea. You can take beautiful pictures or watch as the daredevils of the group jump into the water of high rocks. Jumping is at your own risk. If you have allergies or special dietary requirements, then please let us know at least one day in advance.
  • The third stop is at one of our favorite beaches in Westpoint. You will be surrounded by a wonderful world of corals, sponges, colorful fish and clear blue water. This is also a perfect location for snorkeling.

Around 16:00 we will be back at our diving school. You can take a shower on the beach and then join the weekly happy hour "Two Hours of Happiness" of Dive City Curaçao. Happy Hour starts at 5 p.m. with a 50% discount on all beer, wine and rum. Our happy hour ends at 7 p.m. but the bar is open until 10 p.m.

Got hungry after such a full and pleasant day? Dive City serves (vegan and non-vegan) pizzas and meters of pizzas to share.
